Project Manager (HGA-R)

Position Summary & Duties:
The Project Manager position is a direct hire position working at the HGA corporate office in Ruston, LA.  


The Project Manager position provides administrative and technical management of one major function or section within HGA’s Project Management department. Assumes overall responsibility for budgeted man-hours and staffing.  Recommends personnel transactions of all natures.  Establishes work group standards, policies, and procedures. 


  • Leads the planning and implementation of projects.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements.
  • Develop full scale project plans.
  • Assemble and coordinate project staff.
  • Manage project budget and resource allocation.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines.
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Provide direction and support to project team.
  • Ensure project is operating within quality assurance guidelines.
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project.
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
  • Project evaluations and assessment of results.
  • Supervision and approval of proposals.



  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred; business degree from an accredited college will be considered.   
  • Minimum of five years of full-time project/program related experience required, preferably in the field of engineering. 
  • Experience including budgeting, scheduling, tracking, monitoring, and reporting within projects or programs.
  • Experience leading projects in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong familiarity with advanced project management practices, methods, and techniques.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Financial Management - Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections.


  • PMP certification preferred.


  • Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to bring projects and tasks to successful completion through political sensitivity.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Ability to persuade, encourage, and motivate subordinates and others project team members.
  • Ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to delegate and manage time and resources efficiently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and presentation skills.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Capability to conduct research into project-related issues and products.
  • Capability and willingness to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
