PLC Programmer (HGAS)

Position Summary & Duties:

Expressions of Interest – PLC Programmer Candidates

HGA Staffing is currently gathering resumes of experienced PLC Programmer candidates interested in supporting our clients with their upcoming projects.    

The PLC Programmer generally will be a contract position with proven, strong experience in PLC logic and programming with Siemens S7 PLC/Allen Bradley.



•Develop new designs, test, integrate, and/or install new electrical and/or programming concepts and techniques capable of improving safety, performance, and cost reductions

•Modify existing plant equipment electrically and/or program to reduce cost and/or improve safety of plant personnel.

•Assist and mentor other engineering and maintenance personal so they can complete their assignments.

•Coordinate assignments with the other project team members.

•Develop innovative electrical concepts and techniques for satisfying plant needs and requirements.

•Ensure projects plans realistically address electrical and/or programming risks and problems as well as meet requirements.

•Responsible for the electrical integration of sophisticated electrical systems, subsystems, and subassemblies.

•Creation of the necessary documentation (schematics, diagrams, specifications, etc.) to be used by Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing.

•Assist all departments in electrical and/or PLC programming needs or problems. Improve and/or implement plant equipment troubleshooting aids to reduce downtime.

•Document all electrical and/or programming changes

•Improve communication with department needs, especially with operators of plant equipment.

•Must be able to specify for purchase any equipment and/or parts as needed.

•Keep accurate PLC program backups.

•Be able to perform all duties at any time and on any shift as needed or assigned by Plant Engineering Manager.

•Perform all work with a ‘Safety First’ mindset.




•Associates degree in an engineering field or 10 years’ experience in electrical maintenance

•Must be able to program and troubleshoot complicated PLC logic and/or electrical controls of plant equipment – including, but not limited to: Allen Bradley, ABB, Siemens, and Keyence.

•Proficient at working with electrical test equipment.

•Ability to create electrical interconnections, schematic and wiring diagrams.

•Have a thorough understanding of personal computers and the different communication standards (RS-232, DH-485, Ethernet, and DeviceNet).

•Design new or modify PLC ladder logic and drive programs as needed.

•The ability to select proper operating parameters and provide control signals to successfully integrate an AC or DC drive into a new or existing applications.

•Have knowledge of stepper, servo and AC variable speed drives programming that is used throughout the plant.

•Must know, understand, and implement the National Electrical Code and OSHA guidelines.
