Structural Engineer (HGA-R)

Position Summary & Duties:
The Structural Engineer position is a direct hire position working for HGA in our Ruston, LA office. 

Structural Engineer Position Summary & Duties:
This position is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of structural engineering for projects assigned. Responsible for preparing and review of construction drawings. Directly involved with Lead Engineer and Designer in the development of 3D graphic modeling work. Supports construction and procurement with preparation of drawings and material take-offs. Reviews as-built drawings and assists with collection of design information required by construction and procurement.

Structural Engineer Position Description:
• The Structural Engineer is responsible for the overall technical aspects of the structural part of project. This includes the generation of calculations and design drawings as well as field work.
• Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for steel structures and concrete foundations.
• Checks all technical calculations and drawings for accuracy.
• Write scope of work for design based on preliminary review.
• Maintains communications with other engineers and designers to assure schedule and budget accuracy.
• May serve as a field engineer during construction.


Structural Engineer Education and/or Experience:
• B.S. of Civil Structural Engineering from accredited university
• 5+ years of experience in Structural design and calculations for steel and reinforced concrete using manual and computer methods.
• Structural Engineer must have knowledge of engineering practices, design details, codes and standards, procedures, and specifications including AISC, ACI, IBC, ASCE 7, and others.
• Experience in designing reinforced concrete and steel using STAAD Pro and other software.
• Knowledge in MS Windows, MS outlook, MS Excel, MS Word
• Experience in the Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical Industry field is preferred.
• Experience with a consulting engineering firm is needed.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD 2017 and 3-D Modeling is preferred.

Structural Engineer Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
• Fundamentals of engineering (FE) exam with EIT (Engineer in Training) certification is required.
• Professional Engineering registration by examination is required.  Ability and willingness to pursue licensure in other states is also required.
